After 6 years of daily use and 5 ER visits I finally got my CHS diagnosis. I have been cannabis free for 8 months now. I want to share my story and hear from others. Recovery is possible but nobody talks about how hard it really is.
Thank you for sharing this. My story is similar — 4 years daily use, repeated hospitalizations before diagnosis. Six months clean now. The first weeks were brutal physically and psychologically. Cannabis had become my main coping tool for anxiety and losing it felt impossible. But I am doing so much better.
Something nobody warns you about: CHS symptoms can persist for several weeks after quitting as your body recalibrates. Do not relapse during that window just because you are still feeling sick. Stay the course — it does get better.
Recovery support really matters. Therapy was incredibly helpful for addressing the underlying reasons I was using so heavily. If you are struggling to quit, please seek support. It is not weakness, it is the smart thing to do.
